If this isn’t Nice, I don’t know what is

I went with a group of about 20 dancers to St. Petersburg Russia in the summer of 2006.

I kept a journal while I was there which is filled with complaints, pictures, quotes, ticket stubs, and little sketches.

This sketch is of my favorite ballerina, Uliyana Lopatkina, from her role as Nakiya in ‘La Bayadere’. I’m pictured here with my good friend, Erin ( now a dancer with Festival Ballet Providence in Rhode Island)  at the Mariinksy Theatre during that specific performance.

The text from the journal reads,

“We were sitting dead center second row of the balcony, me Erin and Kaitlin, drinking champagne and watching the best dancing I’ve ever seen. If that’s not nice, I don’t know what is”
